Loud Fireworks

Loud Fireworks
"Which is your loudest firework?" is one of the questions we get asked most. The honest answer is it's not as simple as picking the biggest box — loudness comes down to the type of charge, how fast the shots fire, and whether the firework finishes with a salute. This range pulls together the loudest barrages, compounds and rockets we stock, all built around big reports, fast salvos and finale salutes, and all within the UK's legal noise limit.
If you want a display that announces itself, you're in the right place. From 1.3G hazard type fireworks with serious lift charges to compounds that finish with a titanium salute, this is where to look for maximum bang.
How to Choose a Loud Firework
What actually makes a firework loud?
All consumer fireworks sold in the UK are tested and capped at a maximum of 120dB — this is a legal limit, not a marketing claim, and applies to every firework we sell. Within that limit, most fireworks measure somewhere between 90dB and 110dB. The loudest fireworks tend to be 1.3G hazard type — these carry a bigger charge and are built to produce a more powerful report.
Is a 30mm tube louder than a 20mm tube?
Not necessarily — tube size on its own doesn't decide loudness. Shot speed matters just as much. Some 20mm products use a fast timing fuse and fire shots off in rapid succession, which can sound just as loud — sometimes louder — than a slower-firing 30mm product. Velocity by Vivid Pyrotechnics is a good example: it's a 20mm product that fires 224 shots in quick succession, giving a dense, continuous noise that many bigger-tubed fireworks can't match.
What is a salute, and why do some fireworks sound louder at the end?
A salute is a flash-based burst charge designed to produce a loud report rather than a visual effect — usually a bright white flash paired with the bang. Salutes are commonly used to finish a cake or barrage in what's called a salvo: several shots fired together at the end of the sequence, often preceded by a mine lift. This is why a barrage or compound can feel like it's building to a finale — it is.
Best use case: opener, filler, or finale?
Loud fireworks with salutes work best as a finale piece, marking the end of a display with a clear, unmistakable finish. Fast-firing compounds like Velocity work well as a continuous mid-display filler, keeping noise and energy high between bigger set pieces. Pair either with our barrages or rockets to build a full display around the loudest pieces.
