What are Barrages 

Firework barrages are also known as cakes or single ignition barrages (SIB). They are a display in a box and the user only needs to ignite one fuse to let the display commence. Barrages consist of multiple tubes that are linked together by a fuse, tube to tube, to provide a series of aerial effects. Each tube will fire a single shot - for example, a 16-shot barrage consists of 16 tubes and provides 16 aerial shots. 

Barrages vary in tube sizes (the maximum in the UK being 30mm). As a rule of thumb, the larger the tube size, the more powerful the shot is, and the bigger the effect, as it contains more powder.

Barrages come in all shapes and sizes and vary in tube size, powder weight, duration, pace, effects, firing pattern, and noise level. Don't take for granted that a smaller sized firework has less power than a larger sized firework - it may only contain 16 shots, but the tube size could be 20mm, 25mm or 30mm.
